It has been a long time since I have ever updated a proper post. The last post was really emo! hahah!

Basically exams over and I am not so emo liao and straight after exams I went to taiwan and now I am back from taiwan=] Internship will start in less than a day and I still need to cut my hair and take a look at my wardrobe to see if it is sufficient. Very excited about my internship, cause I will get to know more people and really get to know what audit is like.

I will be nicer to myself and stop torturing myself with excessive emo thoughts and negativities and lameshit benchmarkings and comparisons.

SO what did I do these few days?

I came back on 15 jan (from china).

16 jan- birthday =] Thank you to those who came and wishes and presents =] and the organisers and my brother who paid for the buffet =]

17-18jan - MALAYSIA =] random road trip to desaru. Great relaxing place, great food like ayam goreng. Malays are especially good at ayam goreng. Ayam is chicken. Goreng is fried. OMG FRIED CHICKEN! CURRIES.

19 jan - I seriously forgot what I did.

20 jan - outing with jan and sijin. had nandos and missed china's cheap food. Spent like $10 on something that is not exactly nice and filling and $6 on desserts that is of such a small portion. The food that I particularly missed is the korean/ japanese restaurant. which would cost $8-$10 and make me so full and satisfied=] Not the chinese dumplings in school canteen. hahah. I also missed the cakes sold at various cafes in wudaokouuu. Even though it is not cheap like $4 but at least it is of decent portion.

21 jan- macritchie walk with mom and dad. walked abit and I was crazily craving for dimsum at the red hill hawker centre. Had to cut short our walk cause the stuff sells out quite early. Went to red hill (OMG FOOD HEAVEN) Had dim sum. Chee cheong fun with charsiew, Chee cheong fun with prawn (OMG OMG OMG NICE), pork ribs, chicken legs(okie not for me), Porridge, siew mai (=]), har gow (i ate double portion cause daddy don't want his), steamed glutinous rice....... Was really glad to be in a hawker centre with so much choice=] After dim sum I saw the you char kway stall and I buay tahan. hahah so I had a hum ji peng. hahahahaha. I miss cheap and good hawker food! Daddy went to repair his car also at a redhill place near another hawker centre. So me and my mom went to the other hawker centre and saw so many food=] satay, paos, chicken rice... But did not buy but bought rice for vina to eat. heh. Went to the mooncake shop called 大中国and bought egg tarts and several snacks with mommy. Walked back to the car repair shop and realised that daddy is no longer there. The repair was done and so he left to find us. When we finally met up with each other, I realised he also bought egg tarts for me!!! hahahah.

22nd jan- Macritchie again. This time round a 12 km walk which took like 3 hours. Came back for a healthier lunch. But not so healthy with fried prawn balls as one of the dish. had mr bean, and keep snacking on china bought pocky.

School is starting and 3 day week =] Hope everything goes well with school and my temporarily forgotten weight-losing plan due to the singaporean food I missed =] I have yet to have my mee rebus, lor mee, mee siam, LONTONG(omg), nasi lemak, bakchormee, chicken rice, satay, prata....

So much spending today.

HEY!

My work finally ended and I am very thankful for the opportunity to be able to work in recruit infocomms under it8 =] my lovely mentor joey! My lovely team mates, isabelle, zachy, MAGGIE, ivan, zarah, jamie, johan! It was really a good learning opportunity and an eyeopener for me! Though it gets really boring at times with the number of RCs I have to call =] Nevertheless I am thankful and proud of myself! I attended work without ponning/ taking MCs. I only took 2.5 days of leave all with valid reason! We had steamboat ytd, literally by the roadside!

I am going to china soon! PEOPLE MEET UP WITH ME! JIO me cause i lazy to jio people out.

It is a saturday! and the week was busy. I had all my meetups.

Monday was with sueping, went for MOS dinner and sorcerer's apprentice and chit chat after that.

Tuesday was with AA101 tutorial class @ minds cafe ( prinsep)

Wednesday was with rachel pek @ lucky plaza for the really healthy brown rice lei cha! And shopping and chit chat! She gave me a note book and a key chain! thanks!!!

Thursday was temp out with zarah, sock mui, felicia. We had toast box (curry chicken) for dinner and watched salt after that. Following that we took neoprints ( I am still very amused).

Friday was dinner with some of my team mates.

and now saturday. I am feeling very sick and tired, just wanna stay at home for the whole day.

Apparently I ordered the azuki bean + matcha soy milk. You know under the J freeze series.

So the capped wasn't properly capped and I held the cup at the cap region. I was at the counter then and 1/2 of the contents spilled out.

"所以我才给你纸袋" - aunty hinting that I should have held it at the bottom instead.

She then proceeded to save the other half of the content and since that ball of red bean fell out, she went on the scoop another ball of red bean and changed another plastic bag for me. Capped the cap and gave it to me

But I have gotten used to it. And as one of the temp staff who had left said, totally zen towards the critics.

So, the online thing says that I am accepted. But I have yet to receive my acceptance package. What next? Visa application? Intense course matching again I guess.

Again, I doubt my ability to take care of myself when I am alone there.

Work is getting more interesting as I have 2 candidates going down for interviews next week. One for the NCS java fresh and the other for the business analyst role. Hope everything goes well and they will not reject offers if they are being offered. I don't want CROs!!!

I like matching people for the NCS java fresh position. So far I sent in 3 resumes for this particular position and 2 were shortlisted for the interview! Not like some where I sent in countless resume and none of my candidates actually got shortlisted. But I don't really know how to search for profiles online. I actually chanced upon these fresh java profiles when I was calling people to come down for the recruitment consultant role!

Weining is interested in the telemarketing role for 1 month. 1st july to 31st july, normal office hours, monday to fri, $7 per hour, shenton way. Anyone wants to accompany her? Give me more deals! This particular contract seems easy to match!

And I have already worked for a month at recruit infocomms, no deals yet! Please let me deal soon soon soon soon.

I had my first interview today. Like after working so long. FINALLY I had an interview. It was sort of sudden cause I just send in the resume like yesterday. And the company actually shortlisted the candidate =] And the candidate was actually free today for an interview! Just hopes his interview at our clients side goes well =] Yeah.

=] My first interview. Though I was not doing any form of talking. Just sitting there listening to zac and the candidate, it was fun and something new!

It's monday tomorrow and I am dreading the "performance review" session. I just have to go up and present the fact that I have not closed any contract/ perm deals this week. Damn depressing. I don't even have an interview coming in for me. How am I supposed to close any deals?

And some of the temps whom I had made friends with and gossiped with are leaving on friday as their contract is ending. This just makes the work environment duller as there are fewer seasoned-temps around to gossip with you. =[

Just a normal update on what i am doing with my life now

I stopped working with my auntie as an accounts assistant and work in recruit express as a associate consultant.

Please don't ask me to help you match jobs as the current department I am in is infocomms. We are seeking people who specialise in IT. And I know you are not an IT person.

There are pros and cons to this kind of new arrangement.

PROS:

New environment, learn new stuff, in particular about recruitment agencies.
More interaction with people, ie candidates, colleagues...
learn about IT, even though, I am seriously not interested in IT. Got to know a whole bunch of technical jargons
Learned how to listen to strong accents

Cons:

seriously I love the job at my auntie's place. It is so nice there!
I had free lunch there ( lunch at town is so expensive)
free dinner sometimes
can slack during work as long as i finish the stuff i am doing
the job there is accounts related, i.e related to what i am studying. please compare 1) general ledger, cash book, trade creditors, trade debtors, payment vouchers, payment receipts, bank book. 2) .net, c#, c++, Java, J2EE, Mssql, plsql. Seriously, I would prefer the former.
could off almost anytime i want at my auntie's place!

haha. Nevertheless. This being the fourth day at recruit express, I would say it is a good experience. stressful.

The stress level would be higher as i progress through my 3 months contract. Every monday there will be this " session" where the staff will gather and apparently the director will ask why did you close so LITTLE deals. Adds on to the monday blue doesn't it :/ I dealed none. And I doubt i will be dealing any within these 3 months. Low E to P expectancy.

The enviroment is also very different. The culture at my auntie's place is very organic. I can wear slippers, shorts, t-shirts to work. Whereas in recruit express it is very mechanistic, everyday formal, fixed lunch hours... I am not really abiding by the culture at recruit express by.

not putting on make up ( I think the people around me has 0.5 cm of make up on their faces)
not wearing high heels ( people around me are all in heels that are so high!)
not wearing blazer ( people around me wear spagetthi tops and blazers. I couldn't imagine myself in that =.=)

And imagine that every lunch break is 1 hour, and lunch would take up .5 hours and the other .5 would be spent walking around taka, looking at make up. Seriously, I wonder how much the perm staff earns to be able to afford these really expensive make up.

I've actually become anti make up after i work in recruit express. It's so unhealthy for the skin and basically, i don think i will be able to meet candidates up for interview. DO AWAY with all the make up! hahahah!

So I just received an email from INSTEP. It was sent to 3 people and only 3 people are going to china via INSTEP. It was sort of a get-to-know-each-other thing via an email.

3 students from NTU, 3 different universities. One to Communication University of China, one to Tsinghua, and one to Wuhan. I roughly googled and realised that Communication University of China is also in Beijing. But I have this inertia in me that stops me from emailing the person going to CUC. lazy me.

The applications results from the tsinghua side are not out yet though. It will be out only in July. I am seeing much progress in course matching after sending emails to the NBS UPO.

I really hope that everything will go on well for the exchange. It seems to be the only way for me to grow quickly. I should stop behaving like a child. I'm 20.

I have changed some of the chinese description into english and have resubmitted the relevant courses.

However, I have yet to receive an answer for my course matches which I have submitted 2 months ago. I really hope that the speed could be hastened to reduce the uncertainties I face as a pioneer student from NBS to go to Tsinghua University. I am in a three years accountancy programme, although short, I still want to make use of this wonderful opportunity for an exchange in Tsinghua University. And I really hope that the NBS UPO will grant me the necessary resources and timely aid when I need them.

Timely rejection and approval of the courses which I submitted is really essential to me as I still have to juggle between finding more matching courses in the sea of chinese words ( their website is not exactly neat and I have to refer to many sources to put up a course description in studentlink) and also to enquire the chinese side whether I could take this courses due to their restrictions on exchange students. Timely rejection and approval of the courses would thus provide me with more certainties, and the knowlege that my school is supporting me in my exchange programme.

It is probably inappropriate to send this email with this content as you may not have the control over the time period taken for the rejection and approval of the courses. However, I sincerely plead you to help me in this process. Do tell me if there are any bottlenecks where I could possibly be of help. Tsinghua University is the top Chinese university and it is only to the benefit of NBS to send more exchange students to Tsinghua.

I had nice dinner yesterday, with weining=] I guess the food taste even better now that I am only left with a paper which is on next tuesday. I totally feel as though my examinations had ended.

Another semester is going to pass. The life at NBS is very fast paced. I guess by the time I get used to the speed of doing work in university, I would have graduated. 3 years is really short and 1 year has passed.

Wish me luck for principles of economics. I do not wish to see another C beside economics which was what happened during A levels. Which is also the reason why I have to spend a semester with 4 hours of lesson time per week doing economics! The economics model which I learned are just full of unrealistic assumptions, full of crap.

HAHAHHAHAH. I just found this website which could most probably save you people alot of money=] hahaha The website is shown above on the picture. As you know a passport photo may cause up to $1.50 per piece in those normal instant booths where they sell $6 for 4 pieces. And the fact is that 8 pieces could be derived from a single 4R photo which only costs like $0.30 to print?!?!?!

So with this website, you can, take as many photos as you like, with your own digital camera, without being afraid of that impatient aunty at those stores who gives you the "black" face when you request to take more photos, cause the picture does not capture your Professionalism/ beautifulness! haha!

I took this at a store and requested them to burn the soft copy into a CD. Now I am regretting it as. 1) my shoulders 1 up 1 down. 2) my collars not balance 3) I could have opened my eyes wider, make my hair neater........ hahahahha.

If you don't trust your photography skills, you could always seek a professional one and ask for a soft copy and subsequent prints will be so much cheaper=] like $0.30 for 7?! as compared to a dollar each.

Of course, the downs are that you have to cut the photo by yourself which may not be as straight and as nice looking as those "punched" out by the store people. The puncher looks like this

You could be thick-skin and ask the store to punch it out for you. But be ready for a punch from them!!

The website is so friendly to use. But there will be a page where they request to help you print out and send it to you. Click on the small No Thanks button to download your pictures and print it at any photostore near you! =]

extremely irritated

With the NBS undergraduation program office/ the NBS professors who are so slow in the course approval. I submitted the course description like 2 weeks ago and yet the status is still "pending". I'll be submitting in my application package tomorrow which will require me to submit a list of courses that I will have to take next semester.

I knew that applying to a university without a preapproved course list would be difficult. But I really cannot stand these inefficiencies.

On the tsinghua side, when i ask for their course description, they will reply me with a website which I have obviously been to a thousand times and there is NO course description there. They have it for some of their courses but not for most. Therefore, I even took the pains to even search on google the course description, and I managed to find some from some random websites where tsinghua had an exchange programme with. And submitted them efficiently to the UPO.

And there are so much uncertainties involved in this application. Firstly, I do not know if i am going to tsinghua at all. I realised one of the application criteria is that I need to be in year 2 sem 1 during the application period after I applied for second round. I told the INSTEP office about it and they say they would just elect me as a candidate and see what tsinghua says. I would be definitely pissed if tsinghua reject me as i went through these pains of searching for course description/ browsing through chinese websites which makes me feel giddy..... Of course I asked the INSTEP office to ask tsinghua whether a year 1 sem 2 could apply. And they just say to concentrate on my application package first =.= ARGH and this application package is taking so much of my time. Now i do not even know what list of 10 courses to put as I do not even know what is approved/what is not!!!!

Secondly, the tsinghua modules which i matched are based on the academic year 2 years ago and the tsinghua office does not have the latest course list. =.= and said that there are not much changes in these two years. According to the senior there, things may change and the course may not be offered due to the insufficient class sizes. Now with only two approved courses, and the probability that the course may not be offered. What am I supposed to do? Also the senior mentioned that he resend his course list to his professor after arriving to tsinghua as the course changed, judging from the speed the profs/ office in nbs responds to the course approval, I doubt I will be able to have my course approved over there!

Thirdly, tsinghua doesn't allow me to take certain modules!!! Like the MBA, IMBA, EMBA modules, all of which i think are excellent matches... =.= and as I mentioned earlier that I managed to google some course description. These are all MBA, IMBA, EMBA modules!!!! ARGHHHHH!!!

Fourthly, I do not mind and am able to take courses in chinese. And some course descriptions are in chinese. And NTU being rooted as a university with chinese heritage... has this reluctance to send their profs chinese course description as they may not understand it.... =[ ARGH. CUI.

And what angers me the most is that I seen this NBS brochure that shows some of the partner universities for exchange programme. It only mentioned a few and tsinghua was one of them. From a perspective of a normal person reading, he/she may think that we have this long established partnership with tsinghua and sent many students in. the truth is NO, we don't. and NBS isn't very very supportive of the students who wishes to go there judging from the slow course approval and the reluctance to read course description in mandarin and the NO-replies to my email asking them whether I could do my course approval when i am there at Tsinghua.

There is this person in my accounting class who sits at the back, always answering questions correctly and precisely, when most of the class have no time to even punch their figures in the calculator, cause we always made wrong assumption along the way and our entire calculation was wrong. Goodness, the way that person speaks irks me off. How can one get the correct answer with such precision when there are so many traps along the way?:(

this is so funny, i must post it here!

There was a lobster tank in the restauarant. The lobsters start to get a greenish color to them (from algae) and do not look to appetizing. Every once in a while one of the kitchen staff would get the job of brushing the lobsters off with a fine bristle brush so that they looked more presentable...the lobster tank was in the front as you came in the front door of the restaurant. The job was given to one of the new kitchen staff and he did not have a great command of the english language. He decides to be more effiecient and loads about 40 lobsters on dish racks and sends them through our commercial dish washer. Needless to say these poor critters went for a 2 minute ride thru soap, disenfectant and 190 degree water. They of course all died...We tried everything to salvalge what we could but the meat tasted like dishsoap and all went in the garbage.

sians, i intend to find a story to tell for my 114 presentation. In the end what i yielded was this. =.= any stories to tell? About elderly?

I finished my business law 2000 words essay. I just couldn't imagine the amount of effort i put in. I've never put in so much effort into writing one essay. and in the end when i read the final product i thought it was such a simplistic crap. Analysis insufficient, lacks depth. I am so not suited for writing. Next week will be accounting project and 114 oral assessment:)
